The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has inaugurated a 20-member Transition Committee to coordinate the handover to its incoming national leadership.
The committee, constituted by NBA President, Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, will work with a corresponding Transition Committee to be established by the President-elect, Mrs. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, to ensure a seamless transfer of responsibilities ahead of the inauguration of the new administration.
According to a notice issued by Osigwe, the committee is mandated to oversee the handover process, address any challenges that may arise during the transition and collaborate with the Transition Implementation Committee to be constituted by the President-elect.
Jonathan G. Taidi, SAN, will chair the committee, while Princess Hadiza Afegbua will serve as Co-Chair. Other members are Eko Ejembi Eko, SAN; Fidelis Mbadugha, SAN; Adeyemi Pitan, SAN; Johnnie Agim, SAN; Tolu Babaleye; Matthew Osume; Abubakar Gajam; Daniel Kip; Nkechi Ezike (Secretary); Bamiji Adeyeye; Maria Akpan; Adedayo Akeredolu; Magaji Umar; Rashidat Abimbola Hassan; Umoh Edet; Chinekwu Akpe; Napoleon Idenala; and Oluwole Akintokunbo.
The notice stated that the committee may hold physical, virtual or hybrid meetings as necessary to effectively carry out its assignment.
Osigwe expressed appreciation to the committee members for accepting to serve, noting that their experience and commitment would be instrumental in ensuring an orderly and efficient transition.
The committee is expected to facilitate a smooth assumption of office by the incoming administration of President-elect Mrs. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, reinforcing the Association’s commitment to continuity, stability and effective governance.
