The Ogun State Police Command has deployed tactical teams and intelligence assets in a coordinated operation to rescue victims abducted from a private hostel in the Ipara area of the state and apprehend those behind the attack.
The command disclosed that the operation was launched immediately after receiving a distress report of the abduction, which occurred on the night of Wednesday, July 29, 2026.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, said police operatives, in collaboration with other security agencies, had intensified rescue efforts to secure the safe release of the victims.
“The Police and other security agencies activated a coordinated operational response, deploying tactical teams and intelligence assets to the area. Rescue operations are ongoing to ensure the safe rescue of the victims and the apprehension of those responsible,” the statement said.
The command appealed to parents, students and members of the public to remain calm and refrain from spreading unverified information that could undermine the ongoing operation.
It also urged residents to support security agencies by reporting suspicious persons or activities through the Gateway Shield toll-free line (0800 000 9111) or the emergency numbers 09164859299 and 09154293464.
The police assured residents that all available resources were being deployed to rescue the victims safely and bring the perpetrators to justice.
