The management of Abia State University (ABSU), Uturu, has reinstated Professor Nnamdi C. Nwaeze of the Department of Economics, following a request by the university’s chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
The decision was conveyed in a letter dated September 3, 2026, and signed by the Acting Registrar, Dr (Mrs.) Joy Nwankwo. The letter, titled “Lifting of Suspension,” referenced an earlier communication issued on August 12.
According to the university, Nwaeze’s suspension has been lifted with immediate effect following his case and a written plea submitted by ASUU-ABSU.
The institution, however, stressed that the reinstatement does not bring the matter to a close, as investigations by an investigative panel constituted by the university are still ongoing.
The university said the suspension was lifted “without prejudice to the extant investigative panel” and that management would await the panel’s final report before taking further action on the matter.
The development means the professor can resume his duties while the university awaits the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
