Dr. Olufunke Omolara Tayo-Makanjuola has been nominated as the Acting Auditor-General of Lagos State, subject to confirmation by the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Her nomination was approved by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and conveyed through Circular No. CIR/HOS/’26/052, dated July 28, 2026, issued by the Office of the Head of Service. The appointment takes effect from July 28, 2026.
Before her nomination, Dr. Tayo-Makanjuola served as the Head of Directorate, Government Accounts, where she was recognised for her commitment to accountability, professionalism and effective public financial management.
A native of Ikate-Elegushi in Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State, Dr. Tayo-Makanjuola holds a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) in International Business from Lagos State University, an MBA in Human Resource Management from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, a Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Management from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, and Higher National Diploma and National Diploma in Accounting from the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro. She also possesses an Advanced Diploma in Forensic Accounting and Criminal Intelligence from the University of Lagos.
She is a Fellow and member of several professional bodies, including the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), the Chartered Institute of Directors (CIoD) and the Certified Forensic Investigation Professionals (CFIP-USA).
Dr. Tayo-Makanjuola is also a recipient of the Distinguished Woman of Peace and Honour Award presented by the United Nations Positive Livelihood Award Centre (UN-POLAC) in recognition of her contributions to society.
The Management and Staff of the Office of the State Auditor-General congratulated her on the nomination, expressing confidence that she would strengthen accountability, transparency and excellence in public sector auditing.
They also commended Governor Sanwo-Olu for the appointment, describing it as a demonstration of confidence in her competence and leadership capacity.
