The Ogun State Police Command has strengthened its security arrangements across the state ahead of the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration, promising residents a peacefulhitch-free festive period.
Commissioner of Police CP Bode Ojajuni said the command has deployed adequate personnel and operational assets to strategic locations statewide. The deployment covers Eid prayer grounds, major highways, recreational centres, markets, motor parks, residential areas, and other public spaces.
According to the command, the operation is designed to ensure visible policing, effective crowd control, early threat detection, and swift response to any security concerns before, during, and after the celebration.
Under the directive of the commissioner, all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Commanders have been placed on heightened alert. They have been instructed to sustain aggressive patrols and conduct stop-and-search operations where necessary.
The commanders are also required to provide round-the-clock supervision of personnel within their areas of responsibility. The aim is to prevent lapses and ensure rapid response to any emerging situation during the holiday.
Police authorities said collaboration with community leaders, transport unions, and other stakeholders has been strengthened to enhance intelligence sharing. The move is intended to prevent any breakdown of law and order during the festive period.
The command appealed to residents to celebrate responsibly and remain security conscious throughout the season. Parents and guardians were urged to monitor the movement and activities of their children and wards.
Residents were also advised to avoid conduct capable of disturbing public peace, including thuggery, cult-related activities, reckless driving, and other forms of disorderly behaviour. Police said violators would face immediate action.
With the measures in place, the Ogun State Police Command said it is confident of maintaining peace across the state and allowing Muslims to observe Eid-el-Kabir without fear or disruption.
