The Federal Capital Territory Administration has transferred the handling of sales of Federal Government houses in Abuja to the Department of Land Administration following the closure of the Secretariat of the dissolved Ad-hoc Committee on Sales of Federal Government Houses.
The Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, directed the immediate closure of the Secretariat, according to a statement issued on Wednesday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka.
The minister also approved the creation of a new division within the Department of Land Administration to take over matters relating to the sale of Federal Government houses previously handled by the dissolved committee.
The FCT Administration said the ad-hoc committee had completed its assignment but retained its Secretariat temporarily to address matters arising from its activities.
With the formal closure of the Secretariat, the administration directed members of the public to channel all enquiries and transactions concerning the sale of Federal Government houses to the Department of Land Administration.
The FCTA also warned residents against individuals who may attempt to exploit the transition by posing as officials or members of the dissolved committee and its former Secretariat.
It stressed that both the Ad-hoc Committee on Sales of Federal Government Houses and its Secretariat had ceased to exist, urging members of the public to avoid dealings with anyone claiming to represent the defunct bodies.
