The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial candidate for Ogun Central Senatorial District, Senator Iyabo Obasanjo, has said that she used government funds to support members of her political party during her time as a commissioner in Ogun State.
Iyabo made the statement during “Oju Abẹ,” a Yoruba political programme on Splash FM 106.7 on Monday, 20th of July, 2026, where she reflected on her years in public office and her political experience.
According to her, she served as a commissioner for four years and used money available to her office to assist party members, saying she believed it was important to support loyal members of the party while serving in government.
She explained that, in her view, those who worked for the party deserved support, adding that she did not see anything wrong with helping them while she held public office.
During the interview on “Oju Abẹ,” a Yoruba political programme on Splash FM 106.7, Iyabo Obasanjo was also asked to clarify what transpired between her and Senator Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi.
she further explained her position on the issue and addressed the circumstances surrounding their political relationship, while also speaking on her experience in public office and her decision to contest for the Ogun Central Senatorial seat under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
