Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodunhas acknowledged the joint Ogun-Lagos security operation known as Operation Kosaye, initiated by the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Olatunji Disu.
The operation is a coordinated security initiative covering the Ogun-Lagos corridor. It involves combined efforts by police operatives from both states to address criminal activities along their shared border communities.
According to the Ogun State Government, Operation Kosaye has recorded a series of security interventions. These include combing forests and criminal hideouts, neutralisation of armed bandits, arrest of suspects, and rescue of kidnapped victims.
The state government stated that the activities under the operation have contributed to increased security presence and response in border areas previously identified as vulnerable to kidnapping and banditry.
Governor Abiodun noted that the initiative involves collaboration between the Ogun and Lagos State Police Commands, led by CP Bode Ojajuni and CP Tijani Fatai, respectively, as well as other participating officers.
The Ogun State administration said it has continued to provide logistics, operational support, and technology to security agencies as part of efforts to enhance policing and operational effectiveness in the state.
The government also stated that investments in security infrastructure, surveillance technology, and operational mobility have been made to complement the work of the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies.
Officials said the Ogun-Lagos model is based on inter-state collaboration and intelligence sharing across jurisdictional boundaries. The approach is intended to prevent criminal elements from exploiting state borders as safe havens.
The Ogun State Government added that the protection of lives and property remains a priority and that the state will continue to support security operations aimed at maintaining peace and order.
