Motorists travelling on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway have been advised to expect temporary traffic diversion on the Magboro-Ibafo section of the road due to ongoing construction work.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Sector Command, said the Federal Ministry of Works, through Buildwell Construction Company, is installing warning gantries in front of bridges along the expressway.
According to the statement signed by Superintendent Route Commander Afolabi Odunsi on behalf of the Sector Commander, work has commenced at the first bridge located near Mountain Top University at Kilometer 13 before Ibafo.
The FRSC said the installation work is expected to reach its peak on Thursday, June 25, 2026, and will require a temporary diversion of traffic for vehicles travelling towards Ibadan.
During the exercise, cars, buses, pickup vans and mini trucks will be diverted through the Magboro Under-Bridge to Ibafo before rejoining the expressway at the NASFAT U-turn.
The Corps added that articulated vehicles will be temporarily held back while the diversion is in effect.
According to the FRSC, the traffic diversion is expected to last for about 60 minutes.
The agency urged motorists to remain patient, obey traffic rules and follow the instructions of FRSC officers and other traffic management personnel deployed to the area.
The FRSC also apologised for any inconvenience the temporary arrangement may cause and appealed for the understanding and cooperation of road users as efforts continue to improve safety and infrastructure along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
