Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu on Tuesday received a consignment of protective gear donated by United States-based Signal 63 Ministries to boost the safety of frontline officers across the country.
The donation was made through the Fundamental Baptist Ministry International and handed over at Force Headquarters, Abuja. It was facilitated by Mr. Bill Graham of Signal 63 Ministries and Rev. and Mrs. Philemon Sidi of the Fundamental Baptist Ministry International.
Announcing the development on Wednesday via the Nigeria Police Force X account, the police said the intervention was aimed at enhancing officers’ safety and operational confidence during field deployments.
Receiving the items, IG Disu commended Graham and the Sidi couple for their commitment to police welfare, describing the gesture as timely given the risks officers face daily.
“This donation is a critical intervention aimed at enhancing the safety and operational confidence of our frontline personnel,” Disu said. “We deeply appreciate the generosity of Signal 63 Ministries and the facilitating role of Rev. and Mrs. Sidi in making this possible.”
The IGP reaffirmed his administration’s focus on equipping personnel with necessary tools for effective service delivery, noting that welfare and protection remain central to ongoing reforms.
“The well-being of our personnel is not negotiable. It remains a cornerstone of our drive to build a more resilient and professional police force,” Disu added. “We will continue to pursue every opportunity that strengthens the capacity and safety of our officers.”
While the Force did not disclose the quantity or specific types of gear received, photos shared showed boxes of tactical vests and related kits being inspected at the Force Headquarters.
Signal 63 Ministries, a US-based group, has previously supported law enforcement and security agencies with equipment and training resources, according to its facilitators.
