The political support group, Team DA for PBAT 2027, has commended leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun East for endorsing Governor Dapo Abiodun as the consensus candidate for the Ogun East Senatorial election.
In a statement issued on Monday, the group described the endorsement as a bold and unifying decision that reflects the governor’s performance, acceptability, and capacity to deliver quality representation at the National Assembly.
State Coordinator of the group, Honourable Ajeigbe Umar Ishola Ilerioluwa, said the move by Ogun East APC leaders demonstrates foresight and a strong commitment to party stability.
He noted that adopting a consensus candidate would help reduce internal friction and strengthen the party ahead of future elections.
Umar praised Governor Abiodun for what he described as “visible and verifiable” achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and investment promotion across Ogun State.
He added that the governor’s executive experience would be a valuable asset in representing Ogun East at the Senate.
The group also stated that the endorsement aligns with efforts to consolidate support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration ahead of 2027.
It described Abiodun as a loyal party member whose presence in the National Assembly would further advance the Renewed Hope Agenda at the federal level.
Team DA for PBAT 2027 called on stakeholders across the senatorial district to rally behind the consensus decision and avoid actions capable of dividing the party.
Hon Ajeigbe urged other aspirants to place party unity above personal ambition.
He further disclosed that the group would intensify grassroots mobilisation across the nine local government areas of Ogun East to ensure widespread support for the governor’s senatorial ambition.
According to him, strategies such as door-to-door engagement and stakeholder consultations have already been outlined.
The group reaffirmed its commitment to the unity of the APC in Ogun State and pledged to work closely with party structures to secure victory for all its candidates in forthcoming elections.
