The Ogun State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding Chinese nationals and their investments in the state following a courtesy visit by a delegation from the Chinese Consulate to the Command Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta.
Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, received the delegation led by Deputy Consular General, Mr. Wang Yue, on Thursday. The visit was aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing security collaboration between the Consulate and the state police.
CP Ojajuni highlighted the 55-year diplomatic relationship between Nigeria and China, noting the mutually beneficial cooperation in trade, investment, and development. He said the partnership has contributed significantly to economic growth in Ogun State and beyond.
Drawing on his experience as former Commissioner of Police, INTERPOL Annex, Lagos, Ojajuni said the role deepened his understanding of international law enforcement collaboration. He assured the delegation that the Command would leverage that experience to address transnational policing challenges.
The police chief pledged adequate security for Chinese nationals and their business interests across Ogun State. He emphasized that the Command remains resolute in strengthening security around critical infrastructure, industrial corridors, and investment hubs.
Ojajuni also promised sustained police visibility, intelligence-led policing, and proactive crime prevention strategies to protect economic activities and boost investor confidence. He described Chinese industrial investments as strategically important to the state’s economy.
In a gesture of support, the Chinese Consulate donated communication equipment, including walkie-talkies, to the Command to improve emergency response and operational coordination. Mr. Wang Yue said the donation was part of efforts to enhance partnership with the police.
The Deputy Consular General commended the Command for its professionalism and sustained efforts in maintaining peace, especially in areas hosting Chinese businesses. He presented a congratulatory letter to CP Ojajuni, praising his leadership and experience in policing and international cooperation.
The visit underscored the strong diplomatic and economic ties between Nigeria and China, with both sides pledging continued collaboration to promote peaceful coexistence and economic growth in Ogun State.
