The new Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Bode Ojajuni, has advised broadcasters to report Nigeria positively and promote the nation’s culture rather than foreign cultures.
The CP gave the advice on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, while receiving members of Association of Nigerian Broadcasters (ANBROAD), Ogun State chapter, who paid him a courtesy visit to welcome him to the state and foster collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force.
The delegation was led by the State Governor of ANBROAD, Gbenga Goke Fadiran.
Among those present were Goke Babalola, a state and national leader of ANBROAD and General Manager of Fresh 107.9 FM, Abeokuta; Rasheed Ojelabi Oreoba; Olufemi Omilani; and Muriziq Oluwatosin.
Also present at the meeting was the Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, who presented the profile of the Commissioner of Police, while Olufemi Omilani formally introduced members of ANBROAD in attendance.
In his remarks, Gbenga Goke Fadiran stated that the visit was aimed at welcoming the new CP and strengthening synergy between ANBROAD and the police.
He highlighted the association’s contributions, noting that members are involved in producing quality programmes across radio, television, and social media platforms.
He added that ANBROAD comprises newscasters, broadcasters, station owners, educators, entertainers, and information managers who play vital roles in shaping public opinion and disseminating information.
Responding, the CP, Olubode Bode Ojajuni appreciated the visit and commended ANBROAD members for their role in national development.
He urged them to always project Nigeria and Ogun State positively, promote indigenous culture, avoid content capable of inciting unrest, and exercise professional discretion, especially on sensitive issues.
The CP emphasized that while broadcasters should carry out their duties diligently, they must avoid portraying the country in a negative light and instead use their platforms to promote unity and cultural values.
Earlier in the day, members of ANBROAD held a preliminary meeting with the PPRO, Oluseyi Babaseyi, before proceeding to the Commissioner’s office for the courtesy visit.
