Controversial heavyweight boxer Jarrell Miller has delivered a scathing assessment of Anthony Joshua’s chances in a potential rematch against Daniel Dubois. Miller believes Joshua will suffer another devastating knockout loss if he proceeds with plans for a rematch in 2025.
Speaking to Boxing Scene, Miller confidently declared, “Same outcome. AJ’s still getting knocked out.” He attributed Joshua’s vulnerability to his lack of chin and heart.
Miller, who was previously scheduled to fight Joshua in 2019 before failing a pre-fight drugs test, thinks Joshua should face him before considering retirement or a rematch with Dubois. “I need that fight first. One more loss, and he calls it quits,” Miller said.
The brutal defeat to Dubois last month marked Joshua’s fourth professional loss, sparking calls for his retirement from notable figures in boxing. Former champion Prince Naseem Hamed urged Joshua to “bow out gracefully,” citing his achievements and earnings.
However, the 34-year-old Joshua remains defiant about his future in the sport. “I want to continue fighting. We took a shot, and we came up short. What are we going to do—walk away? We’re going to live another day,” Joshua stated after the fight.
Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, revealed that while a rematch with Dubois was initially considered, they might target a British showdown with Tyson Fury instead. Hearn cited the potential for a bigger fight with Fury, should he defeat Oleksandr Usyk.
Daniel Dubois, 25, has seen his stock rise dramatically following his career-defining victory over Joshua at Wembley. The win positions him among the division’s elite and potentially sets up bigger fights in the future.
Miller and Joshua have maintained a hostile relationship since their cancelled 2019 bout, exchanging heated insults during an encounter in Saudi Arabia last December.
As Joshua ponders his next move, Miller’s prediction and Hearn’s considerations highlight the uncertainty surrounding the former champion’s future in the sport.
