Manchester City have stepped up their efforts to sign Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi, with the French club reportedly approving a deal that could rise to €100 million including add-ons.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that Lille have given the green light for the transfer after reaching an agreement with Manchester City over the financial terms.
Bouaddi had reportedly agreed personal terms with City in July, leaving the midfielder on course to complete his move to the Premier League champions during the summer transfer window.
While City continue to strengthen their squad, Chelsea have taken a different approach by blocking an attempt to take forward Jamie Gittens away from Stamford Bridge.
Italian club AS Roma reportedly submitted a loan proposal for the 22-year-old, with the offer understood to have included an option to make the move permanent.
However, according to talkSPORT, Chelsea rejected the proposal and have no intention of negotiating Gittens’ departure.
The London club reportedly view the forward as part of their plans for the upcoming season and are determined to retain him despite Roma’s interest.
The two developments underline contrasting transfer strategies, with City pushing ahead with a major midfield acquisition while Chelsea seek to preserve their attacking options ahead of the new campaign.
