The Federal High Court has expressed deep sorrow over the death of its retired judge, Justice Baba Gana Ashigar, describing him as a dedicated jurist who served the judiciary with integrity and unwavering commitment.
Justice Ashigar died after a brief illness in Maiduguri, Borno State. According to a statement issued by the Director of Information of the Federal High Court, Dr. Catherine Oby Christopher, the retired judge passed away and was laid to rest on July 26, 2026, in accordance with Islamic rites.
The court noted that Justice Ashigar distinguished himself during his years on the bench through diligence, dedication, and a steadfast commitment to the administration of justice.
Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho, on behalf of the judges, management, and staff of the court, extended heartfelt condolences to the late jurist’s family.
Justice Tsoho prayed that Almighty God would grant the family the strength and fortitude to bear the loss, while honouring Justice Ashigar’s enduring contributions to Nigeria’s judicial system.
