Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said the wave of infrastructure projects executed across Abuja under President Bola Tinubu’s administration has become the strongest response to critics, as the FCT concluded its 31-day project commissioning programme.
Wike made the remarks on Friday during the inauguration of the reconstructed Arab/Gbazango Road in Kubwa, Bwari Area Council—the final project commissioned under the FCT Administration’s month-long infrastructure rollout to mark President Tinubu’s third anniversary in office.
According to the minister, the scale of development recorded across the Federal Capital Territory has left critics with little basis to question the administration’s performance.
“If you call Tinubu today, he will show you his report card on the satellite towns and on the city. Abuja is shut down. Abuja is closed. If you are looking for anything else, you can go elsewhere, but not in the FCT,” Wike said.
Represented by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, President Tinubu described the newly reconstructed road as another milestone under the Renewed Hope Agenda, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to extending quality infrastructure beyond Abuja’s city centre to satellite towns and underserved communities.
He said the completion of the Arab/Gbazango Road marked the successful conclusion of an unprecedented month-long commissioning exercise and demonstrated the government’s resolve to translate campaign promises into tangible development.
According to the President, the road will reduce traffic congestion, shorten travel time, improve connectivity with the Outer Northern Expressway (ONEX), stimulate economic activities and strengthen security in the Kubwa axis.
Tinubu also commended Wike for his commitment to delivering critical infrastructure, assuring residents that roads, schools, hospitals and other public facilities would continue to receive attention across the six Area Councils of the FCT.
Reflecting on the 31-day programme, Wike described it as a landmark achievement, noting that projects were commissioned and flagged off continuously from June 9 to July 17 without any major incident.
He disclosed that more than 53 projects have so far been commissioned under the Tinubu administration in the FCT and announced plans to inaugurate at least 10 additional projects before the end of the year.
Responding to concerns raised by community leaders over inadequate water supply, the minister directed the Executive Secretary of the FCT Water Board to immediately address the challenge.
Earlier, the Minister of State for the FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, attributed the territory’s ongoing infrastructure transformation to President Tinubu’s support for the Renewed Hope Agenda.
She also praised Wike’s leadership, describing it as focused, courageous and result-driven, and said the reconstructed Arab/Gbazango Road would improve mobility, stimulate economic activities and enhance the quality of life for residents of Kubwa and surrounding communities.
