The Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, has assured the Peace Initiative Committee (PIC), a non-governmental organization committed to reducing and ultimately eradicating cultism and other forms of insecurity, of his full support in its efforts to promote peace across society.
The revered monarch gave the assurance during a courtesy visit by members of the Peace Initiative Committee to his palace at Ake, Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Tuesday, June 30, 2026.

Oba Gbadebo commended the committee for its commitment to peacebuilding and encouraged its members to remain steadfast in their campaign against cultism, drug abuse, and other social vices threatening the nation’s security.
Speaking during the visit, the monarch said:
“You have talked about cultism. Cultists often do not know what they are doing when they are under the influence of drugs. Drug abuse prevents them from realizing the value and meaning of life. They can easily point a gun at another person’s head and pull the trigger.
“I thank God that you have been educating young people and speaking to them in schools. All of you should continue to make yourselves worthy role models. Let people not only listen to what you say but also learn from what you do. Do not relent in your efforts toward promoting peace. I will also guarantee you access to the relevant security agencies so that you can work together in achieving your objectives.”

The Alake further urged the committee to align itself with government initiatives aimed at tackling insecurity and restoring lasting peace across the country.
He said:
“Be part of every government initiative aimed at promoting peace. Register your presence and work together with other stakeholders so that we can overcome those who seek to destroy our nation.
“Once again, I thank you all. I believe that this Peace Initiative Committee will grow into a formidable organization that will bring joy to this land. I pray that God grants you success in all your efforts to promote peace.”

Earlier, the Public Relations Officer of the Peace Initiative Committee, Comrade Ifebola Togunwa, welcomed members of the delegation and explained the mission and objectives of the organization.
He noted that the visit was to seek the royal father’s support, guidance, and blessings for the committee’s activities.
“We are here to seek your support and guidance because we believe that lasting peace cannot be achieved without the involvement of our respected elders. There is no better person to provide that leadership than Your Majesty. That is why we have come to seek your fatherly advice and support,” he said.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Peace Initiative Committee, Comrade Akeem Abioro, led members of the organization in expressing appreciation to the Alake for granting them audience and for his invaluable words of encouragement and commitment to supporting the committee’s peace-building initiatives.

The Peace Initiative Committee (PIC) is a non-governmental organization dedicated to promoting peace, combating cultism, discouraging drug abuse, and supporting efforts to improve security through advocacy, education, and collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
