Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have disrupted the movement of arms and rescued six kidnapped victims during separate operations in Zamfara State.
The operations were carried out on August 23, 2026, along the Kaura Namoda–Shinkafi and Anka–Gummi roads.
In one of the operations, troops intercepted a vehicle along the Kaura Namoda–Shinkafi Road and arrested three suspected gun runners.
The Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, disclosed this in a statement, saying troops recovered an AK-103-2 rifle, one magazine and 30 rounds of ammunition concealed inside a bag of millet.
In a separate operation along the Anka–Gummi Road, troops responded to an attack on motorists, forcing the suspected terrorists to flee.
The fleeing attackers abandoned six kidnapped victims, who were subsequently rescued by the troops.
Danja said three of the rescued victims sustained minor injuries during the incident and were evacuated to a medical facility, where they were reported to be in stable condition.
The Joint Task Force urged residents to remain vigilant and provide security agencies with credible information about suspicious individuals, weapons and movements.
The military said timely information from residents would assist ongoing efforts to prevent criminal activities and improve security across the state.
