Force Public Relations Officer, Ani Iniedu has confirmed that the Nigeria Police Force has launched parallel administrative and investigative processes involving Moshood Jimoh, Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2 Command, and social media personality Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Iniedu said Jimoh had been invited for questioning as part of the Force’s internal accountability process, while Otse was summoned to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Abuja, to provide evidence in support of the allegations he made against the senior police officer.
The police clarified that the criminal matter arising from the allegations had already been investigated and is currently before a court of competent jurisdiction following legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
According to the statement, the case is sub judice and will be decided solely by the court, stressing that the Force will not permit media campaigns or public commentary to interfere with the judicial process.
“The Force will not try this case in the media, nor will it allow its outcome to be shaped by public campaigns or commentary seeking to prejudge the officers or parties involved,” the statement read.
Iniedu further disclosed that the FCID, Abuja, invited Otse to appear before investigators on July 30, 2026, while the Assistant Inspector-General in charge of the FCID also invited Jimoh for questioning over the allegations.
He said the actions underscore the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to investigating all credible allegations of misconduct through its established accountability mechanisms, regardless of the rank of the officer involved or the public profile of the complainant.
