Aisha Yesufu, a chieftain of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), has criticised the questions posed to the party’s 2027 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, during his recent interview on Channels Television, saying they failed to elicit any new insights.
The socio-political activist, who reacted in a video shared on her X handle, said the interview with Channels TV presenter Seun Akinbaloye revisited issues Obi had addressed repeatedly in the past.
According to Yesufu, the interview added little to public discourse because the questions were not different from those previously asked of the former Anambra State governor.
“So Mr Peter Obi did an interview yesterday with Seun. I absolutely feel irritated by the whole thing,” she said.
“Usually when Peter Obi grants an interview, there is this excitement about what he is going to say. For this particular one, and maybe going forward, it is the feeling of irritation because what are we doing here? It is the same conversation every time. There is nothing he said that has not been talked about.”
She said after reviewing the interview, she found no fresh questions or issues that had not already been discussed.
“I would have picked one or two things from the interview so we could talk about them, but I have been going through it and I have not seen any new questions or questions that we don’t already know the answers to. We wasted our time,” she said.
Yesufu also argued that while Obi continues to face frequent media scrutiny, President Bola Tinubu has not been subjected to the same level of questioning over the performance of his administration.
