President Bola Tinubu has appointed former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, as Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA) as part of a fresh round of appointments into the boards and management of 10 federal government agencies and commissions.
The appointments, involving 26 officials, were announced on Monday in a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga. According to the Presidency, the appointments take immediate effect.
Fayose will chair the REA board alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta as non-executive directors, while the agency’s Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and three executive directors will remain on the board.
President Tinubu also named Major General Junaid Bindawa as Chairman of the National Salary and Wages Commission and approved eight additional appointments to the commission, including former House of Representatives member Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas as Secretary.
Other key appointments include Dr Abuh Mohammed as Director-General of the National Population Commission, Dr Akinola Odeyemi as Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc, Dr Anthony Inalegwu Godwin as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission, and Engineer Julius Oloro as Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM).
The President also redeployed Tosin Johnson Adeyanju from the National Lottery Trust Fund to serve as Secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Commission.
In addition, Tinubu constituted the board of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission, appointing Dr Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as Chairman, while Shuni Muhammad Dahiru was named Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education.
Gisaor Vincent Iorja was also appointed Executive Director (Finance) of the Federal Housing Authority.
According to the Presidency, all the appointments take immediate effect.
