Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District and the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2027 Ogun State governorship election, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), has congratulated Comrade Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji on his re-election as Chairman of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Ogun State Chapter.
In a congratulatory message issued on Sunday, Adeola described Ogunsiji’s re-election for a second term as a testament to the confidence and trust members of the association have in his leadership, commitment and dedication to advancing sports journalism in Ogun State.
He said the outcome of the election was not only an endorsement of Ogunsiji’s leadership but also a recognition of the achievements recorded during his first tenure.
According to the senator, the Ogun SWAN chairman has promoted professionalism, strengthened collaboration between sports stakeholders and the media, and contributed significantly to sports development in the state, earning the overwhelming support of members.
Adeola urged Ogunsiji and the newly inaugurated executive committee to build on the gains already recorded by fostering unity and pursuing initiatives that will position sports as a catalyst for youth empowerment, economic growth and social development in Ogun State.
He also commended members of the association for conducting a peaceful and rancour-free election, describing the exercise as a reflection of the association’s democratic culture and institutional maturity.
The senator wished the re-elected chairman and his executive a successful and impactful tenure, while reaffirming his commitment to supporting initiatives that promote sports development and empower young talents across the state.
Adeola further pledged that, if elected governor in 2027, his administration would collaborate closely with the Ogun State chapter of SWAN and other key stakeholders to unlock the economic potential of the sports sector through the provision of world-class sporting infrastructure and the creation of opportunities for talented youths.
He congratulated Ogunsiji once again and wished him a productive second term in office.
