The Delta State Police Command has arrested an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Mieyebo Victor Foupade, and a woman identified as Mrs. Tope Omolola Comfort over allegations of circulating the officer’s wife’s nude videos and subjecting her to harassment.
Police sources said both suspects are being held at the Ughelli Area Command as investigations continue. Mrs. Comfort was reportedly arrested on Saturday, while the police officer was taken into custody shortly afterwards.
The arrests followed a petition by the officer’s wife, Kehinde, to the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, in which she accused her husband of months of domestic abuse, repeated death threats and sharing her intimate videos on social media without her consent.
She also alleged that despite initially reporting the matter to the Ughelli Area Command, no decisive action was taken to stop the alleged circulation of the videos or address the threats against her.
According to police sources, investigators intensified efforts after the allegations attracted widespread public attention. The sources further claimed that some individuals had been pressuring the complainant to withdraw the case, settle the matter privately and request media organisations to remove earlier reports.
Investigators also alleged that the police officer enlisted the assistance of Mrs. Comfort to continue circulating the videos and harassing his wife. The complainant further claimed that voice recordings obtained by investigators captured conversations between the two suspects allegedly discussing plans to continue humiliating her.
Kehinde said the marital dispute began in April after her husband allegedly accused her of maintaining inappropriate conversations with another man, following his alleged access to her mobile phone without her knowledge. She also claimed he contacted her family, demanding money for her to leave their matrimonial home while accusing her of infidelity.
The Delta State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement on the arrests. The allegations remain under investigation, and neither suspect has been convicted by a court.
