Two children of Abuja businessman Adimike Godwin and a woman have been remanded by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court over the alleged murder of the businessman.
The defendants Adimike Anthony, Adimike Stephany and Comfort Ajibade were arraigned on Monday on a four-count charge bordering on criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide and alleged offences under the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act.
The court ordered that the trio be remanded at the Suleja Correctional Centre and adjourned the case until September 30, 2026, for further proceedings.
According to the FCT Police Command, Godwin was allegedly stabbed to death at his residence in the Guzape area of Abuja on May 15, 2026. The command’s spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, said detectives launched an investigation after a relative raised the alarm when repeated attempts to reach the deceased proved unsuccessful.
She said officers found the businessman unconscious with multiple stab wounds and rushed him to Karu General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead.
Police investigations led to the arrest of five suspects, including the deceased’s driver and gateman. However, only Anthony, Stephany and Ajibade were charged before the court.
The police alleged that the three defendants conspired to kill Godwin. Anthony also faces a separate charge of allegedly entering into a same-sex civil union, while Stephany and Ajibade were jointly charged under the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act.
The FCT Police Command said the charges followed the outcome of its investigation and reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring justice while respecting the constitutional rights of all parties.
The allegations remain before the court, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
