Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Monday called on political appointees and public servants to intensify their efforts in the remaining months of his administration to ensure the government leaves a lasting legacy.
Makinde made the call while swearing in Dr Taiwo Ladipo as a commissioner at the Executive Chambers of the Governor’s Office, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.
Ladipo, a former Commissioner for Health who most recently served as Permanent Secretary in charge of General Administration, has been deployed to the Ministry of Establishments and Training.
The governor also redeployed Prof. Solihu Adelabu to the Ministry of Investment, Trade, Cooperatives and Industry as part of a minor cabinet reshuffle.
According to a statement issued by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, Makinde said his administration would continue to appoint individuals who share its vision for the development of Oyo State.
He noted that changes in appointments should not be viewed negatively, describing them as a restructuring exercise aimed at achieving better results.
Congratulating the new commissioner, the governor urged all appointees to remain committed and loyal to the administration.
“We must finish strong and leave a lasting impact. I urge all political appointees and government officials to continue to discharge their responsibilities effectively and give their best for the growth and development of Oyo State,” Makinde said.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by top government officials, including Deputy Governor Bayo Lawal, Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin, Secretary to the State Government, Prof.Olanike Adeyemo, Chief of Staff, Segun Ogunwuyi, Head of Service, Mrs Olubunmi Oni, commissioners, permanent secretaries and other senior government functionaries.
