The Customs Area Controller of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Ogun I Area Command, Deputy Comptroller OO Afeni, has expressed sadness over the death of the Onipokia of Ipokia Kingdom, Oba Yisa Olaniyan Adelakun.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Customs Z. Chado, Afeni, on behalf of the management and officers of the Command, extended heartfelt condolences to the royal family and the people of Ipokia Kingdom.
He described the late monarch as a man of peace, a custodian of the community’s cultural heritage, and a traditional ruler who was committed to the development of Ipokia Kingdom and Ogun State.
According to the Customs Area Controller, the late Oba played an important role in promoting a good relationship between the Nigeria Customs Service and the people of Ipokia, especially in supporting efforts to strengthen border security and economic activities in the area.
“We have lost a father, a wise counsellor and a key stakeholder in our efforts to maintain border security and economic stability in the region. His departure leaves a great vacuum that will be difficult to fill,” Afeni said.
He also extended the Command’s sympathies to the Ipokia Traditional Council and all law-abiding residents of the kingdom.
The Customs Area Controller prayed for God to grant the royal family and the people of Ipokia the strength to bear the loss and for the peaceful repose of the late monarch’s soul.
