Friends of Kitan Oyesiku have urged the Ogun State Government and the Ogun State Police Command to intensify investigations into the brutal killing of Kitan Oyesiku and ensure all perpetrators are identified and prosecuted. The group said the case must not be allowed to die without justice.
In a statement signed by Oluwaseun Boye, mnipr, on behalf of Friends of Kitan Oyesiku, with the rallying cry: “Justice for Kitan Oyesiku,” the group said it made a public appeal for information on Tuesday and received some response, but insisted that more must be done. They are now directly calling on the state government, the police command, and other justice stakeholders to step up efforts to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death.
According to the group, Kitan Oyesiku was a peaceful, kind-hearted, and compassionate woman whose life was cut short in a cruel and senseless manner. They stated that she did not deserve such an end and that her death had left her family, friends, and everyone who knew her devastated and traumatized.
Friends of Kitan Oyesiku commended the Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, and officers of the Ogun State Police Command for steps taken so far in the investigation. They acknowledged the command’s initial commitment and professionalism since the case was reported.
However, the group urged the police not to relent. They said the momentum must be sustained until every individual connected with the heinous crime is arrested and prosecuted according to the law. They described thorough investigation as critical to restoring public confidence.
The group also appealed to the Ogun State Government and relevant authorities not to allow Kitan’s murder to be swept under the carpet. They insisted that justice must not only be done but must be seen to be done by the people of Ogun State.
They argued that bringing the perpetrators to justice will reassure the public that no life is insignificant. It will also show that criminal acts of this nature will not go unpunished in the state and that the justice system remains committed to protecting citizens.
The group renewed its appeal to members of the public to come forward with any credible information. They noted that any detail, no matter how insignificant it may seem, could provide the breakthrough investigators need to deliver justice for Kitan and closure for her grieving family.
The group maintained that truth must prevail in the case and that those responsible for the horrific act must be brought to book.
