The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, has called on officers to make continuous training and shooting sports a core part of policing, saying the practice sharpens concentration, discipline, and tactical efficiency.
Ojajuni made the call on Thursday when he hosted members of the Nigeria Police Shooting Association at the Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta. The visit was led by the association’s Vice Chairman, SP Theresa Ogboi, alongside the Staff Officer Senior, Ogun State Command, SP Anderson Rabiat.
The delegation said the visit was to congratulate Ojajuni on his posting to Ogun State and to reaffirm the association’s support for his leadership. They described him as a long-standing advocate of shooting sports within the Force.
Ogboi recalled Ojajuni’s contributions during his service in the Lagos State Command, where he served at different times as Second Vice Chairman, Vice Chairman, and Chairman of the Nigeria Police Shooting Association. She noted that his leadership helped advance shooting sports across the Force.
The delegation also commended the commissioner for his professionalism and dedication to service. They highlighted his sustained support for initiatives aimed at personnel development and operational excellence in the Nigeria Police Force.
Responding, CP Ojajuni thanked the delegation for the visit and praised the association for its commitment to discipline, professionalism, and capacity building. He said shooting sports remain a practical tool for building mental alertness and precision among officers.
“Regular practice strengthens professionalism, confidence, and operational competence,” Ojajuni said. He stressed that these qualities are critical for effective policing in today’s security environment.
The commissioner encouraged officers across the command to actively participate in shooting sports and imbibe a culture of continuous training. He said consistent engagement would improve both individual performance and overall unit readiness.
The courtesy visit ended with renewed pledges of collaboration between the Ogun State Command and the Nigeria Police Shooting Association to promote training and standards within the Force.
