The Ogun State Police Command has deployed police officers and operational assets across 72 accredited Computer-Based Test centres in the state to secure the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
The deployment is part of strengthened security arrangements for the UTME organised by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, scheduled to hold from April 16 to April 25, 2026. The command said the move follows its adoption of proactive, firm, and intelligence-led security measures for the exercise.
According to the police, the operational plan is designed to guarantee visible police presence, early threat detection, and swift response to any security concern before, during, and after the examination period. The command said the goal is to ensure a safe, orderly, and credible examination across all CBT centres in Ogun State.
In line with the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR, all Area Commanders within jurisdictions hosting CBT centres have been placed on heightened operational alert. They are directed to take full charge of security management within their areas throughout the UTME.
Area Commanders are to ensure strict supervision of deployed personnel, sustained patrols around examination environments, and close coordination with Divisional Police Officers, tactical teams, and JAMB officials. The command said the coordination is to ensure seamless conduct of the exercise and quick intervention if needed.
The command further warned that any attempt to engage in examination malpractice, impersonation, or any form of disorderly conduct will be met with swift and decisive action. It said offenders will face arrest and prosecution in line with the law.
The Ogun State Police Command urged candidates, parents, and centre operators to cooperate with security personnel on duty and comply with all guidelines issued by JAMB. It added that maintaining order around centres is critical to the success of the examination.
With more than 2.2 million candidates sitting for the 2026 UTME nationwide, security agencies across states are rolling out similar measures to safeguard the exercise. In Ogun, the police said patrol teams and tactical units will remain active across all 72 centres until the conclusion of the examination on April 25.
