Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has distributed 40 brand-new SUVs to traditional rulers in the state to enhance their mobility and support their role in promoting peace and stability.
The gesture is a show of appreciation for the monarchs’ support for his administration’s “Building Our Future Together” agenda. Abiodun described traditional rulers as custodians of culture and tradition and a vital bridge between the government and the people.
The governor emphasized that the vehicles would aid the monarchs’ movement across their domains, enabling them to promote peace and stability in their communities. He commended the monarchs for their role in sustaining the peaceful atmosphere in the state.
Abiodun also used the occasion to urge traditional rulers to create a conducive and investor-friendly environment in their domains. He warned that hostility toward investors could undermine Ogun State’s economic growth and development.
The governor expressed concern over reports of uncooperative attitudes by some communities, particularly in Yewa South, Ipokia, and Ijebu North. He condemned what he described as hostility toward investors willing to commit billions of dollars to the state’s economy.
Abiodun stressed that investments are critical to job creation, infrastructure development, and overall socio-economic advancement. He noted that communities must take ownership of development initiatives rather than frustrate them.
The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hazmat said the meeting was convened to address key issues of security and development while strengthening collaboration between the government and traditional institutions.
The Chairman of the Council and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, commended the governor’s developmental strides and reiterated the council’s support for policies aimed at economic growth and stability.
The event highlighted the importance of partnership between the government and traditional institutions in promoting development and stability in Ogun State.
