The Lagos State Taskforce has formally launched a dedicated Anti-Crime Patrol Unit to combat criminal activities and environmental violators across the state.
Chairman CSP Adetayo Akerele stated that the unit will function as a standby and sharp response team, mandated to arrest and prosecute offenders involved in various crimes.
The unit will target crimes such as drug peddling, street urchinism, attacks on government officials, quackery, and “one-chance” robbery syndicates.
Akerele emphasized that the Taskforce remains committed to ridding Lagos of criminality, intensifying surveillance, patrols, and enforcement operations across identified flashpoints.
The Lagos State Taskforce reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, urging residents to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by providing timely and credible information. The Anti-Crime Patrol Unit represents a strategic initiative to proactively detect, deter, and neutralize criminal intent before it escalates into a threat to public safety.
The unit’s launch comes after the Lagos Police Command directed the withdrawal of Task Force Officers from traffic enforcement duties. The Taskforce is resolute in its commitment to stamping out criminal activities in the state.
