The Coordinator of the Nigeria Agricultural Cooperative Organization (NACO), Pastor Olatunji Abogunrin, has called on farmers across the country to remain united and work together for the progress of agriculture and the development of the farming sector.
Pastor Abogunrin made this known while speaking with journalists after delivering his speech at the Odeda Farmers Association event held at Odeda Abokuta ogun state on Thursday, May 21, 2026.
According to him, unity and oneness among farmers would help them achieve greater success and make it easier for governments at all levels to support their activities.
“If all farmers can maintain unity and oneness, there is nothing we want to achieve that we cannot achieve. Even if we need support from the local government, state government or federal government, they will recognize us as farmers,” he said.
He explained that farmers must speak with one voice to ensure that their needs and challenges receive proper attention from the government.
He added that lack of unity among farmers could make it difficult for them to achieve their aims and objectives.
“But if farmers are not united and do not speak with one voice, the government will not attend to our needs and it will be difficult for us to achieve our goals,” he stated.
Pastor Abogunrin also commended the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for showing support towards agriculture and farmers in the country.
He said the present administration understands the importance of farmers and is ready to support agricultural development.
Speaking further, he appealed to leaders in the agricultural sector to ensure that government support and incentives reach grassroots farmers.
“I appreciate all our leaders in agriculture for what they are doing. Whatever the government gives to farmers should go round and get to the grassroots farmers,” he said.
He noted that many farmers attend association programmes because of the support they receive, stressing that continuous assistance would encourage greater participation and commitment among farmers.
