The Progressive Governors Forum has debunked reports claiming that Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, was removed as chairman of the forum, describing the claims as false and misleading.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the PGF’s Director General, Folorunso Aluko, said no meeting was held where such a decision was taken. He insisted that Uzodimma remains the substantive chairman of the body of APC governors.
“The attention of the Progressive Governors Forum has been drawn to a false and misleading report circulating in some media platforms alleging the removal of its Chairman, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON,” the statement read.
The forum stated categorically that the report was baseless and without any truth. It added that the PGF secretariat had no record of, nor was it aware of, any resolution removing the Imo governor from office.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the Progressive Governors Forum states categorically that the report is entirely false, baseless, and without an iota of truth,” Aluko said. He urged the public and the media to disregard the publication.
The PGF maintained that its leadership structure remains intact and that Uzodimma continues to lead the forum. The statement emphasized that the body remains united and focused on its responsibilities to support the party and the Federal Government’s agenda.
The denial comes amid growing speculation over leadership changes within the ruling party ahead of the 2027 elections. Uzodimma, who has led the PGF since 2023, has been a key figure in coordinating APC governors’ positions on national issues.
The forum called on journalists to verify information before publication, warning that false reports could create unnecessary tension within the party. It reaffirmed its commitment to party cohesion and national development.
The PGF, which brings together governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, has played a central role in shaping policy discussions and party strategy since its formation.
