The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Sector Command, has honoured a retired Deputy Corps Commander, Samuel Aderemi Ogundayo, at a colourful valedictory ceremony held in Abeokuta.
The statement was signed by Odunsi Afolabi, Superintendent Route Commander and Public Relations Officer of the FRSC Ogun Sector Command.
The event, which took place on April 29, 2026, at the Shehu Mohammed Hall of the FRSC Ogun Command, also marked the birthday celebration of the retired officer.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Sector Commander, represented by Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi, described Ogundayo as a committed and disciplined officer who served the Corps with dedication. The welcome address was delivered by Deputy Corps Commander Gbadebo Adeniyi.
The occasion was attended by several retired senior officers, including ACM R. Adeleye, CC S. Martins, CC S. Oyedeji, DCC Ayanwale, and ACC Ojutalayo, as well as family members, friends, and serving personnel.
In their remarks, the retired officers praised Ogundayo for his loyalty, professionalism, and years of meritorious service to the Corps.
One of the major highlights of the event was a ceremonial sword parade performed in his honour, showing the respect he earned during his service years. He was also presented with a ceremonial sword, symbolising his new role as a family protector in retirement. The sword was later used by Ogundayo and his family to cut a joint birthday and retirement cake.
Prayers were offered by both Christian and Muslim clerics for a peaceful and fulfilling retirement for the celebrant.
In his response, Ogundayo thanked the FRSC for the opportunity to serve and appreciated his colleagues for their support throughout his career.
The ceremony ended with a reception in his honour, celebrating his contributions to the Corps and the nation.
