The Ogun State Police Command has partnered with a non-governmental organisation, The Life Projects, to provide free medical services to officers and residents as part of activities marking the 2026 World Malaria Day.
The outreach, held on Friday, April 24, 2026, at the Police Officers’ Mess in Ibara, Abeokuta, also had support from other corporate partners.
The programme, themed “Driven to end malaria; Now we can. Now we must,” focused on providing basic healthcare services, malaria testing and treatment for police officers, their families and civilian staff.
Beneficiaries received free medical consultations, malaria parasite tests, as well as Long-Lasting Insecticidal Nets and anti-malarial drugs.
Health experts at the event also educated participants on proper environmental hygiene and other preventive measures to reduce the spread of malaria within the barracks and nearby communities.
Speaking at the event, the Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Bode Ojajuni, said the initiative reflects the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to the “Health is Wealth” principle.
He noted that a healthy workforce is important for effective policing and public safety, while appreciating The Life Projects and its partners for supporting the wellbeing of officers and the community.
The outreach formed part of efforts to strengthen malaria prevention and improve access to healthcare services among police personnel and residents in the state.
