The Ogun State Police Command has announced plans to set up a police post around the Ibogun campus of Olabisi Onabanjo University as part of efforts to improve security in the area.
The Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, made this known during a visit to the campus on Monday, where he assessed the security situation and met with key stakeholders.
During the visit, the police boss held discussions with the Vice Chancellor, Ayodeji Johnson Agboola, alongside other school officials, community leaders, and traditional ruler, Oba Timothy Sowumi, the Olu of Ibogun-Sowumi.
Students, led by the Student Union Government, also shared their concerns about safety on campus and in the surrounding community. School authorities and community representatives supported the need for urgent action.
Ojajuni assured them that the police would increase patrols, adopt proactive strategies, and maintain regular engagement with stakeholders to keep the area safe.
He said the planned police post would help improve response time, increase police presence, and strengthen community policing in the university environment.
The Commissioner also called for stronger collaboration among security agencies, including the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Amotekun Corps, and So-Safe Corps, to ensure effective security coverage.
As part of his visit, Ojajuni inspected the Ibogun Divisional Police Headquarters, where he met with officers and gave directives to improve their operations.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to working with communities and other security agencies to maintain peace and security across Ogun State.
