Tension is mounting in Ketu Constituency of Yewa North Local Government Area as residents and stakeholders have openly rejected what they described as continued political marginalisation and an alleged move to impose a third-term agenda.
In a strongly worded statement released on behalf of concerned constituents, the people of Yewa North II (Ketu) accused a single ward—Ebutte Ward—of dominating the constituency’s political representation since 1999.
According to the statement, Ebutte Ward has held the position for five consecutive terms, spanning over two decades, a situation the group described as undemocratic and unjust.
“This is not democracy. This is domination,” the statement read, questioning why other wards within the constituency have been excluded despite having qualified and capable individuals.
The group expressed frustration that, while Ogun West continues to push for equitable political representation at the state level, Ketu Constituency remains plagued by what it called internal imbalance and exclusion.
They warned that any attempt to sustain the current arrangement or introduce a third consecutive term from the same ward would be strongly resisted.
“The push for another term under this same structure is not only provocative but an insult to the collective intelligence and dignity of the people,” the statement added.
The constituents called on traditional rulers, elders, and political leaders in Ketu to take a clear stand, stressing that silence at such a critical time could be interpreted as support for injustice.
They further demanded a political restructuring that would ensure fairness, inclusiveness, and equal opportunity for all wards within the constituency.

Among their key demands are an end to what they termed the recycling of candidates from the same ward and the creation of a level playing field for all aspirants.
“The time for polite appeals is over. The people of Ketu are awake and ready to resist any form of political injustice,” the statement concluded.
The development signals a potential political showdown ahead of future elections in the constituency, as calls for equity and rotation of representation continue to gain momentum.
