A serious traffic situation has emerged along the Ibadan–Lagos Expressway following a multiple-vehicle crash involving two articulated trucks near Foursquare Camp in Ogunmakin, Ogun State.
The incident, which occurred at about 10:17 p.m. on Monday, April 20, 2026, involved a black CNHTC HOWO truck with registration number TTD-145ZY carrying iron rods and a white Sinotruck conveying unidentified materials.
According to the Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), preliminary investigations indicate that the crash was caused by speed violations and loss of control.
A total of seven adult males were involved in the accident. While no fatalities were recorded, five persons sustained varying degrees of injuries.
Three victims were rushed to Victory Hospital in Ogere shortly after the crash, while two others who were initially trapped in the wreckage were successfully rescued on Tuesday morning and taken to the same hospital for treatment.
The two trucks remain wedged together, requiring heavy-duty cranes for separation and removal, which has significantly affected traffic flow on the expressway.
As part of ongoing recovery efforts, authorities have temporarily closed the Ibadan–Lagos lane.
Lagos-bound motorists are currently being diverted at Alapako Bridge to share the Lagos–Ibadan lane, resulting in heavy congestion.
FRSC officials have created a corridor at the crash scene to ease traffic buildup, but delays are expected to persist during the final phase of the recovery operation.
The Sector Commander, Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi, appealed to motorists to remain patient, maintain lane discipline, and comply with directives from traffic officials.
He also advised road users to consider alternative routes until the obstruction is fully cleared.
The FRSC assured they public that further updates would be provided once normal traffic flow is restored.
