The Ogun State Police Command has arrested three suspects, including a woman and two minors, for allegedly murdering a 38-year-old man, Stanley Okirie, and attempting to secretly bury his body in Akute.
The suspects, Maureen Okirie, 35, Salia Karikari, 15, and Jubril Karikari, 12, were apprehended on Thursday, April 9, 2026, following an anonymous tip-off. Detectives caught one of the suspects attempting to bury the blood-drenched corpse in a shallow grave, sparking fears of a larger conspiracy.
Preliminary examination revealed a severe head injury, and investigation indicates the victim was attacked with a wooden pestle. The Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, condemned the act, emphasizing that such violence and attempts to conceal crimes won’t be tolerated.
“We will ensure that justice is served, and those responsible for this heinous crime are brought to book,” he said. The suspects are in custody and will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.
DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi, Police Public Relations Officer, urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities. The Command has reassured residents of its commitment to maintaining peace and order in the state.
