The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) has deployed operatives for Easter traffic control and announced 24-hour emergency response services across 27 major traffic corridors in the state.
This initiative aims to ensure effective traffic management and safety during the Easter celebrations, which are expected to attract large crowds and increased vehicular movement.
According to TRACE, the special operation, which commenced on April 1, 2026, will run until April 10, 2026. The agency anticipates increased human and vehicular movement, alongside possible challenges like vehicle breakdowns, road obstructions, overloading, excessive speeding, drunk driving, and road crashes.
To address these concerns, TRACE has deployed additional personnel and engaged its voluntary arm, TRACE Mayors, to monitor strategic locations and traffic-prone areas across the state.
The agency will collaborate with other security and safety agencies, including the Ogun State Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance System (OGSEMSAS), to ensure safety. Field commanders have been directed to maintain professionalism, civility, and fairness while carrying out their duties.
In a statement, the agency urged motorists to strictly adhere to traffic rules and regulations, warning that vehicles impounded for traffic violations during the period won’t be released until April 13, 2026, after the conclusion of the special operation.

The agency appeals to motorists to cooperate and ensure a safe Easter celebration. “We urge all road users to take responsibility for their safety and the safety of others by obeying traffic rules and regulations,” said Cmrd. Elias Omonayajo, representing TRACE.
