Tunji Disu, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), has decorated 30 senior officers who were recently promoted to the ranks of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) and Commissioner of Police (CP). The decoration ceremony was held on Monday, following the promotion of 84 senior officers.
The promoted officers include 13 newly appointed AIGs and 17 CPs. The AIGs are Christopher Ado Emmanuel, Joseph Eribo, Miller Gajere Dantawaye, Henry Ifeanyi Uche, Olanrewaju Peter Ogunlowo, Mohammed Dahiru, Dankombo Faling Morris, Bello Shehu, Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba, Ahmed Musa, Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, Simeon Udofia Akpanudom, and Haruna Olufemi.
The IGP charged the newly decorated officers to lead by example, maintaining a policy of zero tolerance for indiscipline, corruption, or dereliction of duty within their respective commands. He emphasized the need for people-oriented policing and respect for human rights.
The IGP also announced that all newly promoted AIGs will proceed on a mandatory Strategic Leadership Retreat, commencing Tuesday, 24th March 2026. The retreat, organized in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), aims to deepen transformational leadership standards and modern policing ethics among the Force’s senior leadership.
The promotion of the officers is a recognition of merit, discipline, and proven capacity, and is seen as a strategic investment in leadership to provide the national demand for more effective, accountable, and responsive police.
The newly decorated officers expressed their gratitude to the IGP and pledged to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity in their new roles.
The ceremony was attended by senior police officials and other dignitaries. The promotion of the officers is expected to boost morale and enhance the effectiveness of the police force.
