In a bid to enhance emergency response and save lives on Ogun State’s highways, the Ogun State Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance System (OGSEMSAS), a department under the Ogun State Ministry of Health, has partnered with the Federal Road Safety Corps.
This strategic collaboration aims to create a synergy between the two organizations, fostering a united front in tackling emergency situations.
Dr. Hassan Adelakun the state Director of OGSEMSAS revealed that the partnership is part of the Ogun State Emergency Medical Treatment Committee (OGSEMTIC), which comprises key stakeholders, including the Police, Road Safety, Fire Service, and National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
“This collaboration is a game-changer for us,” Dr. Adelakun said. “By working together, we can significantly reduce response times and save more lives.”
The partnership will involve thorough training, with Road Safety Corps training OGSEMSAS pilots on defensive driving techniques and OGSEMSAS training Road Safety personnel on emergency medical services.
This exchange of expertise will enhance the capabilities of both organizations, enabling them to respond more effectively to emergencies.

All state and general hospitals in Ogun State have been designated as referral centres for emergency victims, providing medical treatment and resuscitation. This network will ensure that those affected by accidents or emergencies receive timely medical attention.
Ogun State Sector Commander of Road Safety Corps, Corps Commander Akinwumi Fasakin, praised OGSEMSAS for the collaboration, highlighting the importance of teamwork in saving lives. “This partnership is a testament to our commitment to protecting lives on our highways,” Fasakin said.
