AIG Olatunji Ridwan Disu, a seasoned police officer, has been appointed as the new Acting Inspector-General of Police, bringing over three decades of experience to the top job
AIG Disu, a native of Lagos Island, Lagos State, was born in Lagos and began his policing career in 1992 as an Assistant Superintendent of Police. He has risen through the ranks, earning promotions and recognition for his exceptional service.
AIG Disu has served as Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Alagbon, Lagos, and as Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, where he demonstrated remarkable leadership skills.
AIG Disu holds multiple academic qualifications, including an MSc in Entrepreneurship from NOUN and MSc in Criminology, Security and Legal Psychology from LASU. He is also a member of several professional bodies, including the International Academy of Forensics and the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
AIG Disu’s appointment has been welcomed by colleagues and Nigerians, who are eager to see his leadership skills drive positive change in the police service, improve security, and enhance the overall image of the Nigeria Police Force.
The Acting IGP is expected to bring his expertise to the top job, having led various high-profile operations, including the Nigerian Police contingent on the African Union Mission in Sudan (AMIS) in 2005, where he demonstrated exceptional leadership skills.
AIG Disu is a third dan black belt in Judo and has won several medals, including a silver medal at the 2022 US Open judo championships, showcasing his versatility and competitive spirit.
The road ahead for AIG Disu will be challenging, but with his wealth of experience and expertise, Nigerians are optimistic that he will make a significant impact in the fight against crime and insecurity.
