The 35 Artillery Brigade has announced the commencement of an investigation into the alleged killing of a labourer during a demolition exercise in Ogun State.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Major Ideregih Samuel Akari, the Brigade confirmed that the incident occurred on February 23, 2026, at a demolition site located at Ganic Company, Orile-Imo, along the Sagamu–Abeokuta Expressway.
According to the statement, the incident involved a soldier and a labourer and reportedly resulted in the labourer’s death.
The Brigade expressed deep regret over the development and extended its condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of the deceased.
It further disclosed that a Board of Inquiry has been constituted to conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and accountability, the Brigade assured the public that the findings of the investigation would be made public upon conclusion.
The military authority also appealed to members of the public and the media to remain calm, promising to provide further updates as the investigation progresses.
