Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fairness, justice, and inclusiveness as the state celebrates its 50th anniversary. Speaking at a state banquet, Abiodun reflected on Ogun’s journey since 1976 and emphasized the administration’s people-centered approach, which has driven significant progress in education, housing, healthcare, agriculture, sports, and infrastructure development.
Abiodun stated that the government has positioned Ogun as Nigeria’s industrial capital through deliberate investments in critical sectors, strengthening human capital and expanding opportunities for businesses and communities to thrive. The state has also promoted its rich cultural heritage, with Adire gaining global recognition as a heritage symbol and economic asset.
The government has implemented projects equitably across Ogun West, Ogun East, and Ogun Central, restoring the state’s standing nationally and internationally, and fostering unity and shared purpose among citizens. Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, praised the government’s efforts, saying Ogun is on the path to greatness.
The government has received support from the legislature, judiciary, traditional institutions, and respected leaders, including Former Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo and Former Governor Aremo Olusegun Osoba, who commended Ogun’s achievements and urged continued focus on people-centered development.
Abiodun reaffirmed the government’s commitment to building on the state’s strong foundations, emphasizing the goal of making Ogun a model of balanced growth, unity, and shared prosperity. He highlighted achievements in infrastructure development, education, and healthcare, and expressed confidence that Ogun will continue to attract investments and drive economic growth.
The anniversary celebration has attracted notable figures, including members of the National Assembly and prominent politicians, who have praised Ogun’s progress and potential. The event has highlighted the state’s rich cultural heritage and its potential to become a leading player in Nigeria’s economic development.
