Mr Ogunseye Abiodun Fatai, Chief Work Superintendent Officer and Head of Fleet for the Ogun State Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance System (OGSEMSAS), a department of the Ogun State Ministry of Health retired on 23 December 2025 after 28 years of distinguished service.
During his tenure, he oversaw the routine maintenance, strategic expansion, and modernization of the state’s ambulance fleet, transforming OGSEMSAS into a model of efficiency that has set a national benchmark for emergency medical response.
Dr Hassan Adelakun, Director of OGSEMSAS, Ogun State Ministry of Health, lauded Mr Ogunseye as an “indispensable force” whose dual mastery of fleet management and intricate mechanical engineering set him apart. “He’s not just the head of drivers; he’s the head of mechanics and fleet manager, a trusted officer with great problem‑solving skills,” Dr Adelakun asserted, highlighting the officer’s ability to turn logistical challenges into opportunities for innovation.
Dr Kayode Oladehinde, Permanent Secretary of the Ogun State Ministry of Health, underscored the depth of Mr Ogunseye’s impact, noting that _he took permission from the Head of Service to be in the programme_. “He is a very intelligent and reliable officer,” Dr Oladehinde said, adding that “his dedication should inspire others in the ministry to adopt a similar spirit of perseverance and excellence.”
Mrs Bose Olaniyan, Director of Administration and Supply, Ogun State Ministry of Health, described Mr Ogunseye as a “singular asset” and “full of humanity.” She commended his strategic advisory role, relentless commitment and exemplary work ethic, which has become a model for public service and has left an indelible mark on every unit he touched.
In his heartfelt farewell address, Mr Ogunseye urged colleagues to “unite, cooperate and demonstrate synergy while discharging your duties,” emphasising the importance of teamwork across OGSEMSAS and the wider Ministry of Health.
He reminded the audience that collective strength is the engine behind any successful emergency response system.
Dr Oyenekan Olorunsogo, Deputy Director and Head of Operations of OGSEMSAS, Ogun State Ministry of Health, who has worked shoulder‑to‑shoulder with Mr Ogunseye since 2012, affirmed his collaborative spirit and called for continued unity and synergy within the service. “His mentorship has built a pipeline of talent that will carry OGSEMSAS forward for decades,” Dr Olorunsogo added.
Nurse Thompson Florence, Head of Nursing and Rural Emergency Services and Maternal Transport (RESMAT), a unit of OGSEMSAS, Ogun State Ministry of Health, remarked on his “passion and lightning‑quick problem‑solving abilities.” She concluded, “OGSEMSAS will miss him, but his principles will guide us long after his retirement.”
Mr Fatade Olukayode, Acting Fleet Manager at OGSEMSAS, Ogun State Ministry of Health, praised Mr Ogunseye as a “paragon of professionalism and mentorship.” He said, “His visionary leadership transformed our fleet operations, turning challenges into opportunities for innovation. He cultivated a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement that will endure for decades. His legacy of technical brilliance, compassionate guidance, and relentless dedication will continue to steer OGSEMSAS toward excellence.”
The ceremony was attended by senior officials of the Ogun State Ministry of Health including Dr Oguntade Hammed (Head of National Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance System Unit), Mr Adesakin Adefemi (Head of Media and Publicity Unit), _Nurse Fabuyi Oluwaseun (Head of Calls Centre)_, Mr Sheriff Obawumi (Head of Data Unit), Mr Sanmi Oyewumi (Data Unit), _Mr Gbenga Olakunle (Media and Publicity Unit)_, _Miss Veronica Owolabi (Media and Publicity Unit)_, Mrs Lawal Ebun, Mrs Akanyan Olamilekan, Miss Onasanya Christiana, Mrs Oladipupo Elizabeth and Mrs Ajao Adeola. Their presence underscored the widespread respect and admiration for Mr Ogunseye across all levels of the ministry.
Also present were esteemed _staffers of the Hospital Management Board_, together with Mr Ogunseye’s family members and relatives, all of whom gathered to celebrate his remarkable career and lasting contributions. Distinguished guests offered glowing tributes, describing him as a beacon of professionalism, integrity, and unwavering dedication — qualities that have left an indelible mark on OGSEMSAS and the wider health sector in Ogun State.
The atmosphere was one of genuine gratitude, with many sharing heartfelt anecdotes that highlighted his humility, compassion, and relentless commitment to saving lives. Speakers lauded his ability to inspire colleagues, mentor younger staff, and consistently put the needs of the service above his own, cementing his status as a role model for public servants across Nigeria.
Mr Ogunseye’s legacy of technical excellence, mentorship, and steadfast dedication will continue to guide OGSEMSAS and the Ogun State Ministry of Health, inspiring future generations of emergency responders to uphold the highest standards of service.
