Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun has called on residents to remain vigilant and security-conscious during the yuletide season to ensure a peaceful and joyful Christmas celebration, according to a statement on December 15, 2025.
The governor’s appeal was made at the Christmas Carol and Service of Nine Lessons organized by the state government at the Arcade Ground, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, where he emphasized the importance of collective efforts in maintaining peace and security during the festive period.
The governor stressed that the true essence of Christmas lies in love, selflessness, and compassion, urging residents to embody Christ-like values of humility, service, and care for one another.
He encouraged residents to reflect on these values and incorporate them into their daily lives, fostering a sense of community and togetherness.
Governor Abiodun also relayed the Christmas message of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, highlighting the importance of unity, compassion, and shared responsibility in driving national development.
He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to building a prosperous future, aligning with the “Building Our Future Together” agenda, which prioritizes infrastructure development, economic growth, and security.
The event featured a sermon by Pastor Tunde Bakare of Citadel Global Community Church, who described Christmas as a celebration of humanity’s greatest gift.
Distinguished leaders, government officials, and community members attended the event, with Nine Lessons read by officials and traditional leaders, culminating in the reading of John 1:1-14, which underscored the message of light, hope, and redemption that Christmas represents.
Governor Abiodun assured residents that efforts would continue to advance the ISEYA development pillars, focusing on equitable infrastructure development, sustained economic growth, and enhanced security across the three senatorial districts of the state.
He emphasized the importance of security, compassion, and unity during the festive season, urging proactive measures for a safe celebration and encouraging residents to report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
