The Ogun State Police Command has a new voice, as the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has appointed DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi as the new Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the command. DSP Babaseyi is a seasoned law enforcement officer with a strong academic and professional background.
He holds an LL.B in Law from the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano; a Barrister-at-Law (BL) qualification from the Nigerian Law School, Lagos Campus; and a Diploma in Law from Osun State University.
Before his appointment as PPRO, DSP Babaseyi served as the deputy PPRO at the Lagos State Police Command.
He has also served in various operational, investigative, and administrative capacities across divisions and specialized units, including as Divisional Crime Officer at Monatan and Kajorepo Divisions, and as Officer-in-Charge of Ilaji and Lagelu Police Posts in Oyo State.
DSP Babaseyi’s operational experience was further strengthened by a three-year deployment with the Police Mobile Force (22 PMF) as Unit Commander.
In 2023, he trained at the Nigeria Army School of Special Forces, Buni Yadi, and later led personnel in joint military operations under Operation Hadin Kai across Yobe and Borno States.
He has strong experience in police administration and strategic communication, having served as Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command and as Secretary to the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State.
As the new PPRO, DSP Babaseyi is expected to bring his expertise and experience to the role, enhancing the command’s communication strategy and fostering a positive image of the police force in Ogun State.
The appointment of DSP Babaseyi is seen as a welcome move by the community, who expects him to strengthen the relationship between the police and the public.
IGP Kayode Egbetokun, who appointed DSP Babaseyi, is a seasoned police officer with a strong track record of leadership and innovation.
The Ogun State Police Command is one of the 36 state police commands in Nigeria, responsible for maintaining law and order in the state.
DSP Babaseyi’s appointment is a significant development in the Ogun State Police Command, and his experience and expertise are expected to contribute to the command’s efforts to ensure the safety and security of citizens.
