The Ogun State Unit of the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer programme has trained staff and desk officers from all 20 Local Government Areas on safety and security measures.
The training also included the distribution of first aid boxes to help protect officers from harm or injury while carrying out their duties.
Speaking at the training in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, the State Programme Manager, Mrs. Funmi Baker, said the exercise was important to keep officers safe, especially when they are working on the field.
She explained that the training would help participants understand how to prevent emergencies and respond properly when they occur.
“This step-down training is meant to teach and remind you of the safety steps needed to avoid danger while doing your job,” she said. Baker encouraged the officers to make good use of the knowledge gained and to remain alert to their surroundings in their various communities.
During his lecture, the facilitator and State Director of Fire and Safety Services, Mr. Fatai Adefala represented by Mr. Victor Tejuoso explained the basic elements of fire: oxygen, heat and fuel. He noted that without these three, fire cannot occur.
Adefala also trained participants on the different types of fire extinguishers, how to use them, and demonstrated how to handle domestic fire accidents. He urged them to always call the emergency lines 112 or 08144766200 in case of any fire incident.
In their separate remarks, Akinleye Hanat from Abeokuta South, Adegbenro Taorid Oladele from Ijebu East, and Ajanaku Deji Gideon from Ipokia thanked the facilitators, promising to take the knowledge back to their communities and train others at the grassroots.
